Your Gift

After years of dreaming, months of planning, and 63 days of fund raising, I, Fenway Bartholomule, have been able to order a Comfy-fit brand breast collar harness from Chimacum Tack as a gift from you to FarmWife. FarmWife has wanted a driving mule for all of her life, and I would like nothing better than to be that mule. Our training is progressing nicely, and I have her nearly ready to commence with putting to.


I am dearly touched by the generosity of you, my friends, without whom this purchase would not have been possible. The kindness of strangers? I think not. There is not a one of you stranger than me, and I am deeply grateful to each and every reader.

My fund drive has ended in success, and for that I thank you. You may note that I still have a paypal button on the site. The harness is paid for, but the question of hay money is always at hand. We remain on a tight budget at Bent Barrow Farm, and will humble ourselves to gratefully accept further contributions.     FB I just made a donation to you Xray fund. I'm not as well versed on this internet stuff as you and FW so I just wanted you to know that I would like you to use it for your x-rays. And I would love to have a poem in memory of my friend Double Dip Supreme (aka Honey) who went to the Bridge today. Honey was 34 inches tall and the best little horse in the world.

Here are the Cloud Dog's X-Rays

Here, for your edification, are the X-rays of dear Paisley's leg. There is, apparently, no new break (since his Monday siezure) but there is, of course, a great deal of abnormality caused by years of living with a shortened ulna. His pronounced lameness, the vet says, may temporarily improve. Unlike me, Fenway Bartholomule, poor cloud dog can't expect much in the way of a full recovery.   Not having the $$$$ for surgery to fuse the joint, we are working on making some sort of rigid splint to support the limb and prevent further degeneration. That is, the humans (with their space-age material inventions and their opposable thumbs) are working on making a splint; I am working on giving cloud dog brayful looks of support and encouragement every time he totters into the yard to relieve himself. As always, he fears me (me?!) and keeps his distance.  Ears to you,  Fenway

Saddle fitting nightmare

I wonder if they had to pay a saddle fitter to tell them the Schleese didn't fit. The tree is currently set to "wide" and can be fully adjusted by a saddle fitter.  See the Schleese website for more details.
